Trash the dress!!! I’ve had a lot of people ask “what in the world is trash the dress?!?” According to Wikipedia it’s a “style of wedding photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is out of place. It is generally shot in the style of fashion and glamour photography”. Less technical terms…putting on your wedding dress after your wedding day and getting it as dirty as possible! On this particular shoot Amanda purchased an additional gown for this shoot, but it’s typically done right in your original dress. In all actuality most of the time it’s not even “trashed” …Amanda was on a horse, in a field, sitting on a muddy car but nothing that wouldn’t come out in dry cleaning! Other trash-the-dress shoots we’ve had have brides laying in water, painting the dress, cutting it …really any idea that you can possibly think of and have fun!!!

Amanda and Scott were married this past June at a beautiful ceremony and reception at Ravenwood Country Club…which we were lucky enough to photograph! One of the toasts talked about their love of mud that brought them together…her a soccer player and with her favorite games in the rain/mud and him a Barnyard Bogger (a 4×4 mud bogging club). Very interesting! We had a lot of fun hanging out with some Alpacas, riding horses, laying on hay bales and even sitting on 4 foot muddy tires!

To Amanda: What a blast! Even with a ladder almost flying through my window going 50 miles an hour! HAHA! All for the shot! This was awesome and hopefully this will spark more to trash their dresses!

Another fun and wild wedding! As soon as we met Danielle and Jeff we knew this wasn’t going to be the typical traditional wedding. We started out the day with pictures of the two of them before the ceremony. This is a trend that is becoming a little more popular and there are definitely many perks! The reason that they chose this was that they wanted to enjoy their cocktail hour with their guests and didn’t want to use that time for pictures….which makes complete sense! We had a lot of fun down at High Falls in the city which created some unique, urban pictures! Their beautiful ceremony was at the German House in the city and immediately following was the reception. Only Danielle would kick off the reception by breaking out a choreographed dance of Thriller by Michael Jackson with her mom, brother and his fiancé. The crowd went wild and stayed that way the rest of the night…even Gregg and I got a chance to put down the cameras and cut a rug (from invite from the bride and groom of course ;)

To Danielle and Jeff: What a night! You two have a great group of friends and family…they sure know how to party! Everyone was having so much fun!! Thanks for making it one very entertaining wedding!!

Another really fun engagement shoot at Schoen place! It’s becoming one of my favorite spots for engagements with the water and the rustic buildings! We are very fortunate to be working with such fun couples this year and Kristie and Shane are no exception! Their personalities compliment each other so well…Kristie is so bubbly, upbeat, and always smiling and Shane… the more down to earth, grounded one. It cracked me up watching them interact and talk about their (her) cats! HAHA! The lighting was absolutely perfect and its shows in these warm sunset photos.

To Kristie and Shane: Thank you for the laughs, it was a pleasure working with you both. Kristie, maybe we can talk Shane into a photo shoot with those adorable cats of yours next time! HAHA!

Words to describe Autumn and Teon’s wedding are, elegant, romantic and bliss. This absolutely beautiful wedding took place at Letchworth State Park over looking the falls. They couldn’t have ordered more picture perfect weather! These two were surrounded by their closest friends and family for an intimate ceremony and reception.

To Autumn and Teon: Thank you for letting us share in your perfect day, we truly enjoyed every minuet!

At weddings people often ask “who’s watching your daughter Brooke”…Ashley is! This is a very important job keeping out little angel fed, clean, happy AND entertained for 10 long hours. We knew immediately she would be perfect for the job…and we were right! Ashely is a very sweet, fun-loving high school senior who had a great gift with kids. For this shoot she was a good sport battling swarms of killer mosquitoes in the fields, glass chunks at the graffiti wall and little 1.5 yr old terrors at the studio! …as your dad said “all for the shot!”

To Ashley: Thank you for being such a great babysitter to Brookie…she really likes you!! You were a lot of fun to work with and try to talk your dad into getting you a Canon NOT nikon for graduation! Eck!
